Put Up Good Fight …Elvis Tells Banku, Powers

Hon Afriyie-Ankrah sandwiched by Powers (L) and Banku

Youth and Sports Minister Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah has tasked cruiserweight boxers Bukom Banku and Ayittey Powers to put up a good fight when they mount the ring on ‘Judgment Night’.

The two boxers called on the sports chief at his office in Accra yesterday for his blessing and to inform him of their readiness ahead of their much publicized bout now scheduled for May 15 (Thursday) at the Accra Stadium.

The Minister advised the two to give off their best on the night, taking into consideration controversies surrounding the bout which has resulted in its postponement two times.

‘All eyes are now on you to give off your best. You should know better; how your fans have craved for this bout to come off. I am happy both of you have agreed to fight on the new date. I wish both of you the very best,’ said the Minister.

Both boxers bragged that they would emerge victorious on the night that promises to produce not only boxing but fun.

They revealed they had stepped up their training and were in secret camps preparing to justify why the fight would go down in boxing history as one of the best.

The anticipated big fight suffered two postponements for various reasons.
