Africa’s Leading Business School Goes On Show In Ghana

The University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business (UCT GSB), Africa’s top business school, will be in Accra to connect with potential students during admissions information sessions on 8 May.

The tour forms part of the QS World MBA Tour, which affords students an opportunity to speak to directors from some of the world’s leading business schools to gain insight into their study options.

According to GSB director, Professor Walter Baets, the school is widely acclaimed for its emerging market focus. At the same time it is one of just 59 schools around the world to have triple crown accreditation and its full-time MBA is the only one in Africa to be ranked in the prestigious Financial Times Top 100 MBA ranking – marking it out as among the world’s best.

Baets says currently the GSB has the largest full-time faculty in Africa and boasts 37% international students and 49% international faculty. According to the FT 2014 MBA ranking, the school offers the second best economics programme in the world and ranks 13th in the world in terms of career progress.

This year’s open day will also be held in several other African countries including: South Africa 14 May, Nigeria 10 May and Kenya 12 May, as well as in Bangalore and New Delhi in India on 18 and 22 May respectively.

“The GSB wants to raise the profile of emerging market business schools as centres of excellence, whilst also focusing on the specific skills needed to take on the challenges of today’s complex business world,” Baets says.

“We are eager to increase the numbers of African and Indian students at the school as we believe they will bring additional vitality to our emerging market focus.”

The open days will showcase the MBA, the Executive MBA, Mcom Development Finance, MPhil: Masters of Philosophy specializing in Inclusive Innovation, the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration and the Associate in Management. All degrees are offered on a modular basis, making it easier for students to work and study at the same time. The MBA is also offered full-time.
