Who Is In Charge Of Ghana? Dr Nduom Wants To Know

The 2012 Presidential Candidate of party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom has charged President John Dramani Mahama to tell Ghanaians who is in charge as the leader of the country since the country is seriously being mismanaged. The result of which is the current economic crisis the country is going through.

“Who is in charge of this country, I know that we have a President called John Dramani Mahama and he has a multitude of people as Ministers of state and advisors, but really, who is in charge …?,” he asked.

Dr. Nduom who was addressing party supporters and leaders on the occasion of the second anniversary celebration of the party in Tarkwa in the Western Region said he is not sure if Ghana truly has a good leader looking at the fact that the managers of the economy had failed to provide antidotes to the current crisis in the country and are instead engaging in a blame game.

“When it is the cedi that is going down, they blame dollarization, when contractors are not paid, we blame our so-called donour partners for not bringing monies they promised and when we complain, they say it’s the salaries we pay to the workers that is why the economy has gone down….”

Ghana, he said deserves bold leaders who would accept responsibility for their actions and not blame anyone else for the problems of the economy adding that he was sure by this time, the President has learnt his lessons and come to the knowledge that “winning an election is different from ruling.”

The mishaps in the country, he added points to the incompetence of the nation’s leaders warning that Ghana does not need leaders who can’t take up responsibilities but ones who would deliver to the be best of their abilities and address the numerous problems facing the country.

A caliber of leaders, he stated the PPP has in abundance, thus calling on Ghanaians to discard the notion that he, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom is the only competent individual in the party to man affairs of the country. The PPP is made up lawyers, administrators and other professionals who can best manage the affairs of the nation better than the current administration.

He continued that the competence of the PPP can be seen in the fact that, the party is the only party in Ghana’s politics which have and continue to proffer ideas and solutions to the country’s problems and relegate to the background insults and all forms of backbiting. He also alerted that the only way for Ghanaians to experience the rich ideas and solutions within the PPP’s fold is to vote for the party advising Ghanaians voters to be wary of the party and individual presidential candidate they vote for in 2016 since ‘you get what you vote for.,”

“You cannot vote for paper and get gold…and if you vote for a party or candidate because they gave you sewing machine or ten (10) Ghana cedis, know that you will get a governance that is worth what you were given…if we want any dramatic change, then we should vote for experienced and knowledgeable leaders to transform our lives.”

National Secretary, Kofi Asamoah-Siaw who delivered an account of the party’s performance during the period said the PPP has done well over the two year period and has grown to become the third largest party in the country after the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He said the party was able to achieve this after six months of intensive campaign in the run up to the 2012 General Elections which the PPP keenly contested.

He revealed that the PPP as part of organizing itself to win parliamentary seats in the 2016 elections has set up a parliamentary group which is going round to train potential parliamentary candidates of the party. He therefore called on the party supporters to help the party recruit quality materials to contest and get elected as parliamentary candidates so that the party would continue to churn out great materials. The party supporters were also encouraged to kick start the party’s campaign for the 2016 elections from that moment and spread the message that the PPP is the only party with the right panacea for the country’s problems.

Among events ear-marked for the second anniversary celebration, the PPP scribe said include the sinking of bole holes for communities which are suffering acute water shortages or lack potable water.

The stock taking meeting was attended by prominent figures within the party and the country including the party’s 2012 Presidential candidate, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, 2012 Vice Presidential Candidate, Ms Eva Lokko, National Vice Chairperson, Mrs. Mary Ankomah Boakye-Boateng, Chairman of Council of elders of the party, Mr. Mike Eghan, National Youth Leader, Divine Nkrumah, Women’s Leader, Belinda Bulley, Ashanti Regional Chairman, Dr. Theophilus Benjamin Coffie and a host of party leaders and supporters of the party.
