Security Operatives Prevent Suicide-Bomb Attack In Yobe, Arrest Terrorist – DHQ

A suicide bomb attempt was foiled by the security operatives in the capital city of Yobe State, Damaturu, in the morning of May 4, 2014, Sunday.

According to the statement by DHQ, signed by Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade, a suspected suicide bomber was driving a pickup vehicle full of explosives. His target was ā€˜Aā€™ Division of Police Command, located by the main round-about in the heart of the city. However, the police personnel on duty were able to neutralise the terrorist.

The items recovered from the vehicles included 6 already constructed turbine containers loaded with explosives, as well as 20 liters of petrol and 11 bags of beans chaff. These materials were transferred to the Joint Task Force Headquarters in Damaturu, while the explosive devices have been successfully and safely detonated.

Earlier this week the DHQ reported on other successful moves in the battle with insurgency. Thus, a suspected Chadian terrorist, linked to Boko Haram sect, was arrested in Borno, while a total of 8 persons, including foreigners, are being interrogated in connection with the recent Nyanya bomb blast.Ā
