Prez Mahama inspects dev’t projects in Ashanti Region as part of 3-day tour

President John Mahama has begun a-three-day working visit in the Ashanti Region, where he is scheduled to inspect among others, work on the runway project at the Kumasi Airport.

The President will also visit a shoe factory, which was recently revamped as part of efforts by government to resuscitate defunct factories.

It has been a long-cherished hope of some Ghanaians to see the resurgence of the once famous Kumasi Shoe Factory materialized.

Formerly called the Ghana Industrial Holding (GIHOC) Footwear Company Limited, the now Defence Industries Holding Company Limited (DIHOC) shoe factory aims at generating employment in the region.

“Next year, we are hoping that the factory will be able to employ about 500 people”, Senior Communications Advisor and Presidential spokesperson, Ben Dostei Malor explained.

Mr. Malor, who addressed journalists at the daily media briefing in Accra, Friday, also revealed that “the President is also scheduled to visit the Akate Farms Complex”.

The Akate Farms Complex is one of the largest poultry farms in Ghana.

Mr. Malor therefore stressed the President’s resolve to see work on development projects in the region progress faster “to make the life of Ghanaians better”.
