We have exciting surprises for 2014 VGMA night – Vodafone


Vodafone, headline sponsor of the Ghana Music Awards, is promising several exciting surprises at the 2014 edition of the awards which comes off on May 3 at the Accra International Conference Centre.

In its 14th year, the annual event, is the country’s biggest musical awards programme which honours musicians for their exploits over the past year.

The Awards honour musicians in several categories including Artiste of the Year, New Artiste of the Year, Best Male Vocal Performance, Best Female Vocal Performance, and Song of the Year.

Uche Ofodile, Chief Marketing Officer of Vodafone Ghana, speaking to the press ahead of the main Awards reiterated her outfit’s unflinching support for the awards which she described as “the biggest music platform in Ghana.”

According to her, “We are very supportive of musicians and we want to make sure that they are recognized and awarded appropriately.”

On the night, she noted, “There will be some very interesting surprises – dubbed Vodafone First – which you will see on the day of the event.”

These surprises, Uche added, are “very exciting” and it will take the event to “another level…we want to push an envelope.”

About 23 chart topping musical acts are expected to rock the stage of what is now Ghana music’s biggest night.

The headline sponsor of the Awards said it’s Vodafone Red customers will be given a rare opportunity to enjoy the Vodafone Red Room – which is a premier and VIP part of the awards.

Uche disclosed that as part of efforts to take the awards to a bigger audience, there will be a live streaming of the event on Youtube – Youtube.com/VodafoneGhana.

“We are making VGMAs very accessible to everyone” in Ghana and across the world and that social media will play a “huge role” in updating fans on the awards, Uche noted.

The head sponsor also disclosed that there will be a treasure hunt on some of the country’s tertiary institutions where students will be given the opportunity to hunt for tickets for the awards night.
