UEFA CL Bayern Munich v Real Madrid: History Beckons

With 14 UEFA Champions League titles between Bayern Munich(5) and Real Madrid(9) and both looking to set new Tournament and Individual club records, it makes the second-leg clash of the UEFA semi-final in Germany a delightful taste to savor.

The first encounter ended 1-0 at the  Santiago Bernabéu http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santiago_Bernab%C3%A9u_Stadium ; Real were on the back-foot for most part of the game but managed to grind out an important win. However, their travels to Germany;according to statistics, have not been all to good.

The best result Madrid boasts of away to Bayern Munich was a draw in the first-leg of the group stages in 2004. Madrid have lost 6 of their 7 visits to Munich in the UCL since 2000. But the elusive La Decima(10th title) will buoy the Spanish club and two-time UCL winning Coach, Carlos Ancelotti who stands a chance to earn his third star.

Real Madrid last won the title in 2002, while Bayern are defending Champions. No club has successfully defended the title since the new era of the Competition in 1992-93. This is the heightened sense of excitement the Champions League brings.
