Military advised not to flout laws

Personnel of Ghana Armed Forces  (GAF) have been cautioned against the use of the military uniform to flout the laws of the country.

The military is a disciplined institution, hence personnel must be guided by the overall image of the GAF in particular and the nation in general in whatever they do.

The Director General in Charge of Logistics, General Headquarters of the Armed Forces (GAF), Commodore Bethel Fosuhene Asante,  give the caution and warned that those who flout the laws would be dealt with.

Commodore Asante was speaking in Tema when personnel of the Eastern Naval Command held their first quarter and passing out religious parade.

The joint Christian and Muslim religious ceremony was held to thank God, pray and ask for the Lord’s favour.

In attendance was the Flag Officer Commanding the Eastern Naval Command, Commodore Steven Kweku Darbo, senior officers, personnel of the Ghana Navy, recruits and their parents.

  Discipline 
Commodore Asante particularly asked the recruits to be disciplined in their utterances and shun acts that could be detrimental to their stay in the service.

He reminded personnel of the Command of the sensitive and important nature of Tema as far as the economy of Ghana was concerned and urged them, especially the recruits who got the opportunity to serve in this command to realise the burden they carry on their shoulders on behalf of the people of Ghana.

“We must endeavour to go the extra mile to ensure that the economic activities that are conducted within the Tema area get carried out without any obstruction,” he said.

  Sermon
Delivering separate sermons, the officiating Clergy, made up of Rev. Commodore Paul Adjei-Djan, the Chaplain of the Eastern Naval Command and Iman Abdul-Majeed Shuaib, admonished personnel to always be grateful to God for His daily grace and mercy on them.

They also called on recruits to remain focused and dedicated to their new career and depend solely on God for guidance.

  Awards
Five awards were presented to recruits who excelled in some physical sports and weaponry during their training period. Recruit David Mensah was adjudged the best in physical training (male) while Recruit Gladys Mwintiere was the best in physical training (female). 

The best in boxing (male) went to Recruit Alfred E. Adjartey, while Recruit Vida Aduko took the best in boxing (female category). Recruit Raphael Oppong was awarded for being the best in weapons training.
