EXCLUSIVE: German second-tier side Aalen sign Ghanaian defender Ofosu-Ayeh

German second-tier side Aalen have completed the signing of in-form Ghanaian defender Phil Ofosu-Ayeh on a two-year deal, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

Ayeh, 22, joins from third-tier side MSV Duisburg where he impressed heavily during his time at the club.

The highly-rated right-full back has signed the dotted lines on a €2.5 million deal that will keep him at the club till 2016.

The news will be a crushing blow to Dutch side FC Twente Enschede who were keen to snap up the defender.

Aalen were also contesting with fellow German sides Greuther Fürth, Frankfurt and Karlsruher.

But after weeks of titillation, the former FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt prodigy has opted to join Aalen.

“He (Ofosu Ayeh) is an “absolute desire player of the coaching staff,” said coach Stefan Ruth Beck

“Phil is a very fast football player, young and enormously talented. He needs to move on with us to play in the 2nd league and for that we see in him the potential.”

The move is a big step up for a man who is determined to represent Ghana at the international level.

He is one of the few players who could be a surprise call-up into the Black Stars provisional squad ahead of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Ofosu Ayeh featured 31 times for MSV Duisburg and scored one goal.
