Rio 2016 Olympics: Nigeria called to start preparations

Nigeria should already start preparing for the upcoming 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro to be held in Brazil. This is a call from a director of sports in the country of Goodluck Jonathan.

Olutunji Makanjuola , President of Lagos State Athletics Association, said that Nigeria must be proactive in its preparations for the Olympic Games and other major competitions to boost its medal chances.

He justifies his appeal by the fact that Nigeria has no culture of early preparations for competitions. Makanjuola therefore calls for a change in attitude.

He regretted the poor performance of his country in major international events, explaining that it was a reflection of the level of preparation and investment by authorities.
