Ex Ghana defender Joe Addo says he had no difficulties having sex during his active football days but adds it might not be necessarily helpful in the modern football era.

This debate has been ignited following suggestions to allow wives and girlfriends (WAG’s) accompany their Black Stars spouses to the 2014 World Cup.

The debate keeps raging on despite a clear indication from the Ghana FA not to accept this suggestion as being adopted by mostly European teams going to the World Cup in Brazil.

Addo however says he had no problems at all having sex and playing football at the same time during his active days but is unsure if it will be beneficial to footballers in modern times.

“I never had issues with sex while playing football in my time,” he told Metro FM.

“While I was playing football, I had sex and that is how come I had my kids.

“It worked for me but I can’t say it will work for anyone else.”

The Black Stars will be away from their spouses for at least two weeks throughout their preparations and participation at June’s final in Brazil.
