Court jails driver for stealing judge’s mobile phone

The Winneba District Magistrate Court has sentenced a 21- year- old driver to six months imprisonment in hard labour, for stealing the mobile phone of a Kumasi based High Court Judge.

Clement Bonney, who hails from Winneba pleaded guilty.

The Prosecution Police Detective Sergeant Peter Agbelie told the court presided over by Mr Charles Owusu Nssiah that on February 14, the judge parked his car at the Town Hall area.

Detective Sgt Agbelie said the complainant returned to find that his Samsung Duos Mobile Phone he left in his car had been stolen and reported the matter to the police.

The prosecution said investigations conducted led to the arrest of the convict, who in his cautioned statement admitted the offence.
