Is NPP Going To Hunt For Charles Taylor…1, 500 Security Personnel For What?

National Democratic Congress (NDC) Central Regional Communications Director, Bernard Allotey Jacobs has questioned why the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is transporting a huge number of security forces to Tamale for their upcoming National Executive Congress.

According to him, conveying such a huge number of security personnel to Tamale just to oversee an internal election is ridiculous “serious”.

His comment came after the Director of Elections for the NPP, Martin Adjei-Mensah revealed in an interview that, the upcoming National Delegates Congress which will be held at the Tamale Sports Stadium will attract some 1, 200 police personnel and 300 military officers.

Mr. Martin Adjei-Mensah also pointed out that persons without valid accreditation will not be allowed entrance into the stadium. Thus, security will be fortified to prevent any violence from erupting either within the metropolis or at the venue of the congress.

But speaking on Asempa FM, Allotey Jacobs opined that “This is serious. The whole of Rwanda police service is almost about 1, 500 and even Liberia police service is not up to 1,000. How can NPP alone send such a huge number of Police and Military personnel to Tamale for just their congress? This is like three battalions. Are they (NPP) going to hunt or to arrest Charles McArthur Ghankay Taylor (former Liberian politician who was the 22nd President of Liberia)?…this is a serious matter,” he said.
