Vodafone Ghana Foundation is seeking proposals from non-governmental organizations, community development organizations and social enterprises to solve social problems in the country through mobile technology.
According to the Foundation, applications can be submitted between now and 30th May, 2014, adding that applicants will go through a three-stage evaluation process and eight selected projects will be sponsored from planning through to implementation.
The Foundation stated that interested organizations can submit their proposals to Vodafone Ghana Foundation, via email [email protected]
The Foundation said the areas of focus include health and education, among others. ‘Mobile for Good’ is a programme designed to utilise mobile technology to make communities in Ghana a better place.
The Vodafone Foundation was established in 2009 to drive sustainable social interventions in communities all over Ghana. Since its establishment it has championed social and impactful investment programmes in the country.
These include transforming the Korle-Bu Cancer Ward to a state of the art cancer treatment facility; building an ultra-modern community library for a cluster of schools at Asofan; providing incubators for the Tamale Hospital, assisting NADMO disaster recovery efforts by providing fibre glass speed boats; and driving mental health awareness.
It has also introduced HealthLine 255, a medical call centre run by doctors and nurses to provide advice to millions of Ghanaians of health issues. Another project of the Foundation is World of Difference; which seeks to mobilise people to take time out and work for a charity of their choice.
