Prez Mahama Visits Eastern Region

Less than 24 hours before President John Dramani Mahama’s visit to the Eastern Region, the usual glamour and excitement that used to greet former presidents on visit to the region seemed to be on the low side.

When the Ghana News Agency went round the New Juaben Municipality, the normal white washing of the streets, decoration of the streetlight post with miniature flags seemed to be absent this time round.

There are no much signs in town to welcome the president except areas around the Koforidua Jackson’s Park where a durbar had been planned to welcome the President to the region. Banners had been hanged at some vantage points with the inscription “welcome President John Dramani Mahama to the Eastern Region” and the display of national colours at the park.

The President is on a two day working visit to the Eastern Region from Wednesday, March 26 to Thursday, March 27.

The visit starts with a durbar of chiefs at Akropong on Wednesday morning followed by another durbar at Koforidua in the afternoon.
The President is expected to address some students at Koforidua, commission some projects in some of the districts before leaving to Accra on Thursday night.
