Anthony Annan Makes Competitive Appearance In Schalke’s Defeat To Real Madrid

The 27-year-old played his first competitive match in the 2013/2014 season after appearing as a second half substitute in Schalke’s 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid.

Ghana midfielder, Anthony Annan was an 81st minute substitute for Schalke 04 when they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday night in the Uefa Champions League.

The former Rosenberg player who returned from a one year injury setback two months ago was making his competitive debut in the 2013/2014 season.

Compatriot, Kevin-Prince Boateng was an unused substitute for Jens Keller’s team.

Annan was in action for the German side in January, but that was just a friendly match ahead of the second round of the 2013/2014 season.

Schalke were kicked out 9-2 on aggregate by Real Madrid after losing the first leg 6-1 at the Veltins Arena.

The defeat means no Ghanaian player will be involved in the rest of UCL campaign.
