Kombian’s Lawyer Abandons Him In Court

Drama unfolded in the Court 4 of the Accra High Court where Counsel for already jailed suspected Armed Robber, Johnson Kombian abandoned him for no noticeable reason.

Lawyer George Asumaning on Monday, March 17, 2014 failed to appear in court when his client was dragged before His Lordship Mustapha Habib Logoh for allegedly killing two police constables in the Nakpanduri Township of the Bunkprugu/Yunyoo district in the Northern Region.

Principal State Attorney, Marina Appiah Opare who represented the State expressed her disgust about Johnson Kombian counsel’s behaviour.

His Lordship Mustapha Habib Logoh adjourned the case to Tuesday, March 18, 2014. It will be recalled that on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, the police failed to produce Johnson Kombian in court for the second trial.

John Kombian’s absence was largely attributed to the police failure to serve the Ankaful Prison authorities jailer warrant to produce him in the Accra Fast Track High court.

Johnson Kombian is standing trial for allegedly killing Constables Prince Agyare and Owusu Frimpong of the Ghana police service.

The police accused Johnson Kombian of killing the two constables who were shot dead at their duty post in Nakpanduri Township when the police declared Kombian wanted. Johnson Kombian was arrested on October 17, 2010 through Interpol in neighbouring Togo where he sought refuge.

Johnson Kombian is already serving 11-year jail term with hard labour at the Ankaful Prisons in the central region for escaping lawful custody and for allegedly causing harm to innocent civilians during his operations in Nakpanduri and its adjourning communities.
