If Akufo-Addo coughs; NDC catches cold

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Mpreaso, Seth Kwame Acheampong has scoffed at what he says is the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s phobia for the NPP’s 2012 presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo.

He said Akufo-Addo’s return from a sabbatical break has sent shivers down the spine of the NDC.

The Mpreaso MP’s was reacting to claims by NDC MP for Juaboso, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh that Akufo-Addo’s tour of the Ashanti region is a “total waste of time”.

The NPP leader, who returned from London after a-six-month break from politics, is on a tour of the Ashanti region to thank NPP members for their support. He also paid a courtesy call on Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi as custom demands.

But Kwabena Mintah Akandoh said Akufo-Addo is “an ordinary leader of the party” therefore his tour of the Ashanti region is a “display of arrogance”.

In a rebuttal, Seth Acheampong on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday said, given the posture of the NDC, Akufo-Addo is undoubtedly the man they love to hate.

According to him, Akufo-Addo is a self-made man and a visionary with pragmatic approach to solving the self-inflicted socio-economic hardships in the country.

The NPP MP noted that he [Nana] is an enviable man with exceptional virtues and thus no amount of propaganda can dent his image.

Seth Acheampong urged the NDC to quit making Akufo-Addo a bait and find cogent solution to salvage the crippling economy.
