I will bounce back and win despite setbacks – Afoko

An aspiring national chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko has indicated that despite the setback, he suffered during the investigations into alleged his arrest, he will rigorously campaign to win the seat.

The National Election Committee of the NPP on Wednesday cleared Mr. Afoko to contest the national chairmanship position of the party after allegations of arrest and narcotic dealings were made against him.

Speaking on Eyewitness News, Mr. Afoko he narrated his campaigning has so far been energy sapping due to the development because “I ended up spending most of the time talking about this petition.”

He also mentioned that a lot of time was spent in re-assuring his supporters “to trust me, to believe me that I had never ever been convicted and so they should stay the course with me and that it will be okay.”

According to him, although the NPP has a month to its national delegates congress, he will do his possible best to get his message across to the delegates so as to win the elections.

Mr. Afoko urged party members to take a cue from his experience and stay united to fight the cause of the party.

He said: “Lesson will be learntwe all need to take our time and reflect somberly on what has transpired.”

He however clarified that he has no intentions of pursuing the individual who petitioned the leadership of the party.
