Kwesi Appiah: I Will Select My Final Squad Based On The Friendly Games

Black Stars Coach James Kwesi Appiah has said that his final squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil will be based on players performance during friendly games.

Appiah said this following Ghana’s 0-1 loss to Montenegro last Wednesday, March 5.

The 2010 World Cup Quarter-finalists are scheduled to play Netherlands before the tournament starts in Brazil.

Kwesi Appiah hinted that he already has a core of his squad for the 2014 World Cup.

“I think I already have my players for the tournament in Brazil [but] I will select my final squad based on the friendly games,” he said.

“We’re not too interested in the result against Montenegro but it is good we play such games to shape our team for the tourney,”he reacted after the match in Podgorica.

“There are few things and small touches I would have to do to strengthen my team for the tournament.”

Kwesi Appiah became the first Ghanaians to qualify the Black Stars for the FIFA World Cup after beating Egypt 7-3 on aggregate.
