2014 Year Of Hard Work – Asamoah Boateng Tells NPP

Mr Steven Asamoah Boateng, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said that 2014 is a year of hard work and that party members and supporters must work to increase their numbers to be able to face the challenges of 2016.

He has, therefore, reminded the biggest opposition party of their core business after their internal elections.

He stated that “mobilisation of the Ghanaian electorate to vote the NPP into political power in 2016 is the core business”.

In an interview, he told the Daily Graphic that “after the internal elections which are the fundamental blocks of any political organisation, party members should not wait but to organise to make the party attractive and endearing to the hearts and minds of the Ghanaian electorate”.

According to Mr Boateng, also known as Asabee, those elected should, as a matter of urgency, begin to mobilise, especially the teeming youth who have no hope and give them hope.

He also said mothers who fed the family, including fishmongers, market women and sellers of all types of wares must be mobilised to give a true reflection of the party as a grass-roots party.

He said that part of mobilisation called for monetary contribution.

“As elected officers, they should mobilise people to contribute their widow’s mite towards the building of the party,” he stated.

“This is not the time to be waiting for Accra and the party’s top hierarchy to run your constituency offices,” he declared, saying that “the party must be run from the various constituencies”.

He said it was the only way to move forward as a mass party.

In his view, a new year begins with hope and all old things have passed away.

He, therefore, called on members of the party to bury all differences and begin with a clean and honest heart to give people hope.

“As a party, we must also continue to give hope to the grass roots,” he stated.
