Two notorious robbers who allegedly snatched a taxi with registration number GW 5457-13 in broad daylight, and attracted the wrath of the people – who subjected them to severe beating and stripped them naked – have been arrested by the police at Awutu Breku in the Central Region.

The robbers, Desmond Appiah and Yaw Yeboah, were arrested by the Awutu Breku Police near Kasoa, also in the region, yesterday afternoon, having robbed a taxi driver and dumped him into the bush, after tying him with a rope.

The incident happened at the Jei River farm area on the Kasoa-Ofankor road around 3:00 pm.

The robbers, said to have been armed with machete and guns, allegedly attacked the taxi driver, Emmanuel Nyanney, who they had asked in front of the Awutu Breku Magistrate Court building to send them to Kasoa-Ofankor.

On the way to Kasoa, the robbers allegedly pushed him out of the taxi, tied him up and subsequently dumped him in the bush – after stripping him of all his money and mobile phone.

The police from Awutu Breku were called in and Inspector Adusei, L/Cpl Owusu Ansah and L/Cpl Ofori helped in arresting them after 30 minutes.
The case has been handed over to the Kasoa District Police for investigation. According to the police, it was too early to make any comments on the case to the media.
