The TUC is advocating equal economic opportunities for women as the World marks International Women’s day today.
It says currently more than 80 percent of women are engaged in the informal sector and this does not augur well for women financially.
The Secretary General of the TUC, Kofi Asamoah in an interview with Radio Ghana said there is the need to enforce rights in the national statutes to promote the rights of women in the economy.
In another development, more than one hundred women from an international NGO, Global Mentoring Walk undertook a keep fit exercise through some principal streets of Accra as part of activities marking the International women’s Day.
The exercise forms part of efforts to inspire women through mentorship and bring to the fore the important role they play in society.
In an address the Founder and Executive Director of the NGO, Brigitte Dzogbenuku said, there is need to intensify efforts towards improving gender equality.
