Nigeria Prez Sacks Sports Minister Over $9.5m World Cup Budget?

Nigeria President Goodluck Jonathan has sacked the Sports Minister, Bolaji Abdullahi after failing to appear before the senate to defend an extravagant $9.5million World Cup budget he proposed.

No immediate explanations were given for the president’s shocking decision but speculations are that President Goodluck Jonathan is unhappy with the astronomical World Cup budget the minister intends to defend

The sack was announced just before the commencement of Wednesday’s meeting of the Executive Council of the Federation, FEC.

THE Senate Committee on Sports, Tuesday summoned the Minister of Sports, Bolaji Abdulahi to appear before the committee by 12 noon, Tuesday next week for absenting himself from the budget defence of his ministry without any formal communication to the committee.

The committee alleged that the minister in the last three years had treated the committee with disdain by refusing to appear before it as was the tradition in other ministries to defend the budget proposal for the fiscal year.

Dr. Tamuno Danagogo has thus been appointed to as the new Minister of Sports and is expected to over see the Eagles preparations for the World Cup in Brazil.
