Tomorrow, March 6, 2014, The Globe Productions in partnership with National Theatre and the Nkrumah Centenary Committee will present a play entitled: ‘The Second Coming of Nkrumah,’ written by Latif Abubakar.
The objective of the play is to provide a delightful platform not only for Ghanaians but for non-Ghanaians in the country to be entertained and educated about the Ghanaian history and culture.
The play also seeks to emphasize on the importance of unity towards national development as well as contribute to the resurgence of theatre by positioning theatre as one of the best sources of entertainment in the country.
According to organisers, the play would be staged to mark Ghana’s 57th Independence anniversary celebrations tomorrow with two shows a night, 4:00pm and 8:00pm at the National Theatre in Accra.
The fascinating aspect of this play is that it involves characters who just do not just play roles as our former presidents, but act, look and speak like them (Nkrumah, Hilla Liman, Rawlings, Kuffour, Atta Mills) including the current President John Mahama and Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
The roles for the famous Governor Arden Clark and Queen Elizabeth during the Gold Coast would also be acted by two British who have currently arrived in the country.
Patrons right from the presidency, ministers of state, parliamentarians, diplomatic community, corporate Ghana and families are assured of the highest quality stage play and a wonderful culture atmospheric environment they have never experienced.
