Tunisia Customs Seize $30,000 on Harrison Afful

Customs officials in Tunis have seized a whopping $30,000 belonging to Esperance and Ghana defender Harrison Afful.

The incident took place at the Tunis-Carthage Airport in the early hours of Thursday, Goal Ghana understands.

Sources said the petit Ghanaian lateral defender hid the money in his shoes on their way to Kenya to honour a Caf Champions League game against Gor Mahia, contrary to Central Bank’s directive prohibiting foreigners from carrying such a large amount of money on them whiles traveling by air.

After being queried by the officers, Afful said the money came from the Ghana Football Association for the Black Stars players after their qualification for the World Cup Brazil 2014. But since the guardsman did not make a declaration on the money it was confiscated until officials verify the source of the money at the Central Bank.

Officials are yet to think of the next line of action as Afful’s fate remains up in the air, according to Gnet.
