Asamoah Boateng Election Petition Discontinued

The Cape Coast High Court has struck out the election petition case filed by Mr Stephen Asamoah Boateng who was challenging the 2012 parliamentary election results in the Mfanstiman West Constituency of the Central region.

This followed the filing of a motion by Mr Asamoah-Boateng, to discontinue the petition for personal reasons and in the interest of peace in the constituency.

When the case was called today, Monday, the court struck it out as discontinued and awarded a GhȻ1000 cost against Mr Asamoah Boateng.

Mr Asamoah-Boateng was the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate in the constituency, in the last polls and he was claiming that some presiding officers did not sign the declaration forms and some of the figures did not tally with those in words.
