Mahama Should Consider Reshuffling Himself Before His Minister

A Communications Team member of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has satirically appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to consider reshuffling himself out of office rather than any of his appointees so the country can see the much-expected development.

Charles Owusu’s call is but a litany of the unbridled pressure being mounted on the president both within and outside the ruling Umbrella fraternity to undertake a major overhaul of his ministers to save Ghana from its economic doldrums through the handiwork of mediocre appointees.

The latest to call for a reshuffle is NDC founder and former President Jerry John Rawlings, who said there is an “urgent need” for the president to revamp his team and beef it up with “experienced” men and women.

“These changes I believe should have taken place towards the end of last year when Ghanaians had reached their saturation point with what they perceived as the incompetence or the non-performance of some of the appointees, but it didn’t happen. There is a bit of anxiety, some sense of expectation that is where my name becomes a convenient tool to be misused,” Mr Rawlings said.

But speaking on Adom FM, Charles Owusu, opined that “the first restructuring to take place has to be that of President John Dramani Mahama. Mahama should exit office because he has underperformed before thinking of reshuffling any of his appointees. With him (Mahama) at the helm of affairs, Ghana will not go anywhere.”

To buttress his point, he cited the apparent rudderless ship the country has become and the alleged mismanagement of the economy by the current administration which he claimed has resulted in the sharp depreciation of the local currency against the dollar. He therefore urged Ghanaians to vote the NDC out of power in the 2016 elections for their failure to deliver the “Better Ghana” agenda they promised.
