Asante Kotoko’s hopes of a treble this season has been dashed after the Fabulous boys were eliminated from the CAF Champions League in the preliminary round.
The Porcupine Warriors were on Sunday kicked out by Liberia’s Barrack Young Controllers in the return leg in Monrovia.
Kotoko entered game with a 2-1 first leg advantage but their opponents managed to win 1-0 in normal time to tie the game at 2-2, thereby advancing to the next round courtesy the away goal rule.
The Liberian side scored the match winner with five minutes remaining.
The reigning Premier League champions failed to reach the last-eight of the competition in their previous campaign and will now need to turn their focus towards the domestic competitions.
Kotoko are top of the Premier League table and are through to the last 16 in the FA Cup.
