Preside Over Your Emotions First – PMs Told

The National Conference of Presiding Members of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), has ended with a call on them to preside over their emotions first to enhance good governance.

Mr Augustine Nii Amoah Nai, Presiding Member of La Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA), who made the call also urged his colleagues to always show good leadership and non-partisanship against issues that would be raised to promote development.

Mr Nai said creating a platform for the promotion of local government service delivery in the communities called for all presiding members to have a common goal against the mounting pressures confronting them.

He said; “the strength in unity lies in our hands, therefore, you should take your rightful position to ensure good governance in Ghana. We need to live up to the task and by so doing we have to do that in unity.”

Dr Joseph Agyepong, Executive Director of Zoomlion Group of Companies gave the assurance that his company would continuously support programmes of MMDAs by showing concern.

“To this end, we can team up to ensure good sanitation in the country,” he said.

Mr Agyepong said Zoomlion was doing its best to inject good mechanisms into the system to ensure clean environment and create avenues for more capacity building programmes to the presiding members.

Nii Torgbor Obodai, Chief of Ogbojo, who chaired the function called on the Presiding Members to use the forum to plan and strategise to support the government’s decentralization process and collaborate with institutions whose activities impacted on the people.
