Dead Baby’s Family To Demonstrate Against Komfo Anokye Hospital

Tension seem to be brewing in Aboabo, Ashanti Region, as the family of Suwaiba Abdul Mumin, the mother who lost her baby at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, in circumstances many describe as bizarre, plan a massive demonstration in solidarity with three family members who were arrested for attacking workers of the hospital.

Three close relations of Suwaiba Abdul Mumin, described as irate Zongo youth, have been arrested for allegedly assaulting two doctors and several other nurses at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Wednesday morning.

Mohammed Osman 25, Sadat Mohammed, 30, Ahmed Mohammed Baba, 38, were among some 20 angry youth protesting the spate of missing babies in the hospital in recent times.

The mob was said to have gone on a rampage after learning that not only would they have to grief the loss of their sister’s baby but they would be denied the opportunity of giving her a befitting Muslim burial, after an orderly was reported to have disposed off the body.

However, news reaching NEAT 100.9 indicates that preparations are far advanced for a massive demonstration by the people of Aboabo, Asawase and surrounding areas to demand the immediate release and investigations commissioned to unravel Komfo Anokye missing baby issues.

Confirming the news to Adakabre Frimpong Manso, the host of ‘Me Man Nti’,/b> programme, Abdul Rahman the spokesperson of the family disclosed that the demonstration is slated for Monday, 17th of February, 2014.

According to him, organizers of the protest will go through some of the principal streets of the Ashanti Regional Capital, Kumasi; however, security has been beefed as hospital authorities have called an emergency meeting to deliberate on the matter.
