GYEEDA rot: State drops charges against Pele, Assibit; files new charges

The state has dropped charges brought against former National Coordinator of GYEEDA Abuga Pele and the CEO of the Goodwill International Group, Phillip Akpeena Assibit only to file new ones.

Last month Abuga Pele and Mr Assibit were slapped with 19 charges including willfully causing financial loss to the state, misapplication of public funds and aiding and abetting crime.

They both denied all the charges and pleaded not guilty.

When the court resumed hearing Tuesday, the prosecution, Malik Abass Daabu reported dropped the charges only to file new ones.
