Ignore Letter From Armed Robbers Assoc.

Director of Public Affairs at the Police Headquarters, DSP Cephas Arthur has asked residents of Agape to ignore a letter written to them by a gang of armed robbers who call themselves ‘Armed Robbers Association of Ghana’ (ARA).

The gang threatened to deal drastically with residents of Agape if they do not pay GH¢500 per tenant through MTN mobile money.

They gave a deadline of December 30, 2013 to pay the money or stand the risk of being robbed.

Speaking in an interview on PEACE FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’, DSP Cephas Arthur indicated that the armed robbers have no right to collect such monies from the residents. He therefore asked residents of Agape not to pay the amount specified; adding the police service is working hard to get to the root of the issue.

“They cannot just do what they like in this country. It is not legitimate and so residents should not be alarmed; they should go about their normal duties…They should not pay any money to them; we are conducting investigations to get all those behind the letter,” he indicated.
