Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah believes his side have been boosted for the start of the World Cup after demolishing South Korea 4-0 in Miami on Monday night in their final warm-up match.
The ex-international and captain named a strong starting line-up including skipper Asamoah Gyan and world cup veteran Sulley Muntari as they fine tune for next Monday’s Group G opener against USA.
Ghana looked defensively organized and survived several onslaughts but dismantled their Asian opponents with some clinical finishing.
Hat-trick hero Jordan Ayew opened the scoring with a deflected effort on 11 minutes and Asamoah Gyan doubled the lead with a sublime finish in the 44 th minute.
Ayew again was on target with a powerful shot from outside the box and the Marseille striker drilled in the fourth goal by connecting Albert Adomah’s cross from the right.
‘I think it was a really good friendly match. This being our last game it was important we put up a good team and the opposing team also proved that they are really a good side,’ Appiah said in a post match conference.
‘Most of the times friendlies, fine, you have to win but I normally don’t look at the score line, I look at tactically how we played individually and how we played as a team.
‘I believe that everyone who paid to come here has got his monies worth.’
Ghana will leave for Brazil on Tuesday and will be in Maceio, their team camp base, to prepare for tough assignments in Group G against Portugal and Germany too.
