2014 World Cup: Afriyie Acquah Not Bothered He Is Yet To Play In Brazil

Ghana midfielder Afriyie Acquah insists he is not bothered by his lack of games at the 2014 World Cup.

The 22-year-old who came to the tournament with a lot of promise is yet to feature for Black Stars in Brazil.

Acquah has been one of the most talked off youngsters in the Ghana squad touted to explode at the world stage on the back of an impressive loan stint with Italian club Parma.

But coach Kwesi Appiah has been unable to use the box-to-box midfielder who is being talked off by many as the new ‘Michael Essien’.

The impressive performances of Rabiu Mohammed and Sulley Muntari in the heart of the Ghana midfielder has also made it difficult for the ex Palermo man to break into the side.

Substantively on the books of German clubn TSG Hoffenheim, Acquah is adamant he is not concerned by his lack of games even though he continues to ready himself to take his chance once given the opportunity.

“I would say no [about being disappointed with his bench warming role] because eleven players play football at a time,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“I know I can play but it is up to the coach to decide whether I am ready to play or not.

“I am hoping that the chance will come and I will get the chance to play.”
