National Media Commission Initiates Peace Campaign

The National Media Commission (NMC) in collaboration with the State-owned media are to initiate a nationwide “Media for Peace” campaign that aims at sustaining the peace of the country.

“The mandate of the State-owned media compels us to play this role”, said Ambassador Blay-Amihere

Blay-Amihere, Chairman of the Commission when he announced the initiative at an Orientation

Workshop for Governing Boards of the State-Owned Media in Elmina at the weekend.

He explained that the four State-owned media, namely Graphic Communications Group, Ghana

News Agency, New Times Corporation and Ghana Broadcasting Corporation were spearheading

the campaign in collaboration with the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA).

Other stakeholders include the National Communications Authority (NCA), Institute of Public Relations (IPR), Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Private Newspaper Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) and the Ghana Association of Writers (GAW).

“The country, the establishment, and all others, should come on board for the nation to sustain its peaceful co-existence,” Ambassador Blay-Amihere said.

He called on media professionals to exhibit a high sense of professionalism in their reportage in the run-up to and during the pronouncement of judgment by the Supreme Court on the election petition case.
