Kotoko have stolen the march on arch-rvials Hearts of Oak and reached an agreement with New Edubiase for the services of their captain Abeiku Ainooson, GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal.

The Premier League champions have stolen a march on rivals Hearts of Oak by agreeing terms with the Bekwai-based side.

Ainooson is among the six players pencilled by Hearts coach David Duncan for signing ahead of the start of the new season.

But the dreams of the Phobians signing the workaholic is up in smoke as Kotoko have shown more determination and initiative by swooping first.

The Porcupine Warriors are yet to finanlize a deal with the player but sources say the former Inter Allies centre-back is keen to move to Kumasi.

Ainooson is seen as one of the rising stars of Ghana football and underlined his growing reputation by churning out impressive performances  for Edubiase in the just ended Ghana Premier League.

He was voted best defender in the 2012 Ghana MTN FA Cup.
