Mrs Mahama was speaking at the 5th anniversary celebration in Accra of ShareCare Ghana, established by Nana Yaa Agyemang, wife of the editor of The Mail newspaper, Alhaji Haruna Atta to cater for people living with autoimmune disorders, influenced by non-communicable diseases which normally cause the body to fight itself.

Speaking at the anniversary, Mrs. Mahama said these disorders are the most unbearable of all ailments and urged the patients to keep up the spirit.

“I have been associated with ShareCare Ghana for a number of years now and I have been impressed and encouraged by their resolve in not allowing their ailments to hold them back, but have risen above themselves to share and care”, the First Lady noted.

She pledged to support on-going discussions between the Noguchi Institute and the NHIA to recognise that autoimmunity deserves attention.

She also assured them that the President in his plans for the health sector will not let their plight go unnoticed. Mrs. Mahama lauded doctors and healthcare professionals for their contribution to the healthcare delivery system.
