Real Tamale United defender Eric Odoom has BOLDLY alleged that the club’s management were involved in match-fixing in the just ended Ghana Premier League season.

The central defender is incensed at the club’s demotion from the top-flight after making a return from the second-tier league.

Odoom has however refused to mention the names of the obnoxious club officials and teams who bought the matches.

He added that some of monies received were shared for some particular players for them to play it soft during those matches.

“They (the club’s management) have sent the team to relegation because at sometimes they take monies from others clubs so we lose those matches,” Odoom told Accra-based Asempa FM.

“I can’t mention names but that is what I have told you. I can’t mention the names of team but some of our leaders take monies and give some our players who play poorly.

“When a player moves from his position, nobody recovers for you and then you concede cheaps goals. This was the trend in the second round.

” When a player is hungry, that is what he does. If you go to table, everybody will tell the club’s management sent us to the Division One League. ”

RTU were relegated from the Ghana Premier League in April after losing 4-1 to New Edubiase United with seven matches to the end of the season.

The Pride of the North ended the season without a win in 30 matches; five draws and 25 defeats.

They have joined the likes of Cape Coast Venomous Vipers (1958), Ebusua Dwarfs (1959), Gbewaa (1970) and Boye Sowah’s Great Lions (1982) who ended seasons without wins.

The Ghana Football Association is expected to invite the players and club officials after partnering Interpol to rid the game off match-fixing.
