The chairman of Uruan local government area of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Tony Akan has described as spurious an unfounded, the allegation in a section of the online media, that he was involved in a brawl with Prince Ukpong Akpabio at a leisure resort in UYO.

He maintained that although there was a slight misunderstanding between two friends at the resort, it was nothing more than a little scuffle that was easily sorted out. And added that the said scuffle did not involve Prince Akpabio nor himself.

Mr. Akan wondered why he was alleged to have been slapped, explaining that, “I was much close to Prince (Akpabio) throughout the few minutes we spent there, and at no time did Prince nor himself indulged in the so-called activities that Prince Akpabio has been accused of.

The Uruan Council boss who also denied meeting any Uche at the resort, said he story was a creative imagination of the writers and, or their sponsors.

Speaking further, he said, at no time was anyone put in the booth of any car and it is simply surprising to read this on the internet,” the Uruan council boss fumed.

Tony Akan described Prince Akpabio as a very peaceful and social person who is always friendly with everybody, and added that those who know him very well, can easily see it as a futile attempt to tarnish the image of the youthful entrepreneur.

“As an eye witness, I didn’t noticed any slap on anybody, let alone myself, and I wonder where the reporter manufactured that such a thing ever happened,” he said.

“This is certainly the work of detractors and political scavengers who specialize in making political capitals from the reputation of innocent members of the public”, he added.

He warned journalists to be conscious of the manipulations of certain politicians who may try to use them to achieve some cheap political aim, especially with the impending political climate drawing
