The Ghana FA is ready to meet with Michael Essien to discuss his return to the Black Stars.

The Chelsea ace has not played for Ghana for over two-years now – during which period he asked to be excised from national team duty to sort out his club form.

This was after the 30-year-old sustained serious knee injuries for both club and country.

Essien is widely expected to be available to play for the Black Stars in September’s 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zambia.

But the former Lyon man who excelled on loan last season at Spanish giants Real Madrid has delayed in his announcement of his Black Stars return.

He now says he wants to meet with officials of the Ghana FA while on holidays to discuss issues over his return.

Ghana FA’s spokesman Ibrahim Sannie-Daara says the association is also keen on meeting the midfielder within the shortest possible time.

“If Essien wants to meet us then that is fine as we are also looking to engage him,” he told Kumasi-based Fox FM.

“I would however like to assure that the Ghana FA has no problem with the player and Essien himself knows this.

“However if he wants to meet then we are also keen on the meeting and will be taking steps to pursue him to discuss whatever issues he has.”

Essien will be joining the likes of Kevin-Prince Boateng, Andre and Jordan Ayew who have all given indication of their desire to return to the Black Stars if indeed he decides to return to the team.
