AWKA – INDICATIONS emerged Tuesday that the famous building materials market located at Ogidi in Idemili North Local Government area, the home town of Professor Chinua Achebe, will be closed for business on Thursday as a mark of respect for the literary giant who will be buried that day.
Vanguard gathered that the leadership of the traders and officials of the local government have agreed on the closure to ensure free flow of traffic in and out of Ogidi.
Similarly, the Akpakaogwe Primary School, Ogidi which Achebe attended, will be closed on Thursday as the burial church service for him will be held at St. Philip’s Anglican Church located in the school.

Meanwhile, secretary to the Anambra State government, Mr. Oseloka Obaze who is the chairman of the state burial committee, said that government would not compel the traders to close shop, adding that if they decide to do so, they would be doing it out of their own volition in respect for Chinua Achebe.
