Abdoulaye Soulama
Kotoko goalkeeper Soulama Abdoulaye has expressed great concern and frustration over the string of drawn games by the Porcupine Warriors this season.
The Burkinabe import in an interview with asantekotokosc.com after the Kotoko-Aduana Stars match was wondered what could account for the 14 draws the team has recorded so far.
“For all these years that I have been at Kotoko, this is the first time that I am experiencing such worrying fortunes. We go into matches with determination and fighting spirit and end up with only a point to show”.
“I have been doing a lot of introspection about this issue. The more I try to understand why, the more confused I become because there are no immediate answers” said the deputy captain.
He says his worry has more to do with the fact that the team has been dropping precious points in their home matches.
“The matches that come to mind and bring me so much worry are the ones against Liberty and Heart of Lions, and we even lost to King Faisal in Kumasi”.
“Our home venue should be our fortress where opponents come with fear but the opposite has become the norm these days”.
“This chain of draws must stop now. We cannot continue to drop valuable points when we so badly need them to pursue our target of having a successful defence of the league title”.
To curb this, he says the players and the technical team were going to do their part by stepping up their preparation for matches and urged supporters also to do their part.
“We can do everything that we want to do in connection with ending the draws, but fans also have to do their part by cutting the insults and undue pressure that they put on us. We need their prayers and support. I am sure together, we can reverse the tide in our favour”.
