Ghana will know its final opponent in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers in a draw on September 16 once the Black Stars qualify for the final phase, CAF has confirmed.
Ghana currently trail Zambia by just a point in Group D of the African qualifiers.
The Black Stars however have the relative edge if both teams win their next two games against Sudan and Lesotho as Ghana will be hosting Zambia in the final group game later in the year.
Ghana will then know its final opponent in a two-legged game for one of the five slots reserved for Africa in the 2014 World Cup if it manages to progress to the final stage.
The decision to do the draw on September 16 was taken at a CAF Executive Committee meeting last week in Cairo.
The meeting took the views of representatives serving on the powerful Ex.Co including Ghana FA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi.
The Black Stars look to make a third consecutive appearance at the FIFA World Cup following steady progress in the maiden and second campaign in 2006 and 2010 respectively.
