MFL : Obafemi Martins still injured!

Nigeria international Obafemi Martins missed Seattle Sounders 2-2 draw at Philadelphia Union Saturday as he is still nursing a knee injury.

Seattle Sounders coach, Sigi Schmid has ruled out Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins out his team’s away clash against Sporting Kansas City tomorrow at the Livestrong Sporting Park, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

The Nigeria international missed Seattle Sounders 2-2 draw at Philadelphia Union last Saturday due to a niggling knee complain, and has been told to get fully fit before he resumes with the group in the coming weeks.

‘A notable absentee for our game against Kansas is Obafemi Martins because he still feels some pains on his knee and we don’t want him in and out of the team every week ,’ Schmid states Sounders official website.

‘He’s out of the game, so is Sharlie Joseph who is also injured,’ he concludes.

Martins has scored one goal in three appearances since joining the club from Levante.

Obafemi Martins  is also the highest-paid player in team history, which shouldn’t come as a huge surprise. The previous highest was  Freddie Ljungberg  (2009-10), who was at about $1.3 million in salary and guaranteed compensation based on these reports from the union. Martins is also fourth in the league when it comes to salary (fifth in guaranteed compensation).
