Michael Essien and his Real Madrid teammates have lost a ‘major’ incentive ahead of their semi-final return leg against Dortmund after Mario Balotelli denied offering his girlfriend as a reward.
The Spaniard’s trail their German rivals 4-1 after last week’s first meeting at the Westfalenstadion, a deficit many see as unrecoverable.
It was reported on Monday that Mario Balotelli was so sure, in fact, that Jose Mourniho’s side would fail to recover, that if they did, the striker would offer a night with his girlfriend as reward.
In Spanish newspapers AS and Marca, the Italy forward was quoted as saying: ‘If Real Madrid come back in Champions League, I’ll let my girlfriend sleep with them!’

However, in a statement released by Balotelli’s club, AC Milan this morning, they denied the words attributed to their star man.
It said: ‘AC Milan denies the information published today … of alleged statements made ??by Mario Bolotelli on the Champions League match between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.
“AC Milan insists that the player has never declared or commented anything about this topic with any newspaper.’
