Five die in Apagya accident

Five people died on the spot when the taxi in which they were travelling collided head-on with a KIA truck near Apagya in the Adansi South District in the Ashanti Region yesterday morning.

The identities of the deceased were not immediately known.

However, the all-red gowns worn by four of them made people to believe they belonged to the African Faith Tabernacle Church.

A number of other people on the KIA truck were injured and were rushed to hospital for medical attention.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the New Edubiase Government Hospital morgue pending identification and autopsy.

An eyewitness, speaking to the Daily Graphic on telephone from New Edubiase, said the community members had a difficult time removing the remains of the deceased from the mangled taxi.

The accident, according to the eyewitness, happened about 6:15 a.m. when the taxi collided with the KIA truck after the driver had driven past another truck which had been packed at a point on the New Edubiase-Assin Fosu road.
