Russian Ambassador calls on Justice Minister

rushian ambasador Accra, March 12, GNA – Mr Vladimir Barbin, Russian Ambassador, on Tuesday called on the Minister of Justice and Attorney General, to explore ways the two countries could collaborate in building a legal framework to combat crime.

Mr Barbin said it is important for Ghana and Russia to agree on how to combat illegal drug trafficking.

He said the Russian Anti drug Agency is ready to partner with police men in other countries to combat the narcotic trade hence the need for the legal framework to facilitate the process in Ghana.

‘Assistance on legal criminal matters, are of much importance to partner countries, and will require hard work from both countries,’ Mr Barbin said.

Mr Barbin presented four draft treaties to the Minister for consideration to help foster collaboration in combating crime.

Mrs Marrieta Brew Appiah Opong, Minister of Justice and Attorney General assured the Ambassador that government would give the treaties all the attention to ensure successful implementation.

She said Ghana is concerned about crime, and there are systems and laws guarding against crimes related to drug trafficking.

‘With the framework we look forward to establish good collaboration with your country,’ she said.
