Sulley Muniru named man-of-the-match on his CFR Cluj debut
Sulley Muntari’s younger brother Sulley Sarki Muniru was named Man-of-the-match in his debut match for his Romanian club FC Cluj on Saturday.
The Ghanaian was playing his first match for the former UEFA Champions League campaigners as they drew 1-1 with CSMS Iasi in their league match.
Sarki swept 51% of the votes after the game to be named man-of-match by supporters in his impressive debut for the Romanian top-flight.
He played 74 minutes before he was replaced by Ciprian Deac drawing a standing ovation and wild applause for his debut performance.
Sarki’s best moment of the game came in the 25th minute when his pile-driver from 25 yards was parried out by goalkeeper Irimia.
With this performance Muniru will expect to continue off from there to become a very important player for Cluj.
The former Liberty Professionals youth team player was unveiled by Cluj in January after failing to seal a deal with Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Muniru, an offensive midfielder, was signed by Cluj as a like-for-like replacement for Senegalese Modou Sougou who has been snapped up Olympic Marseille.
