Ho, March 28, GNA – The Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Ho has arrested one Christian Gomashie, a farmer at Saviefe-Deme near Ho for defiling and impregnating his 14-year-old niece.
Gomashie allegedly lured the victim, who was staying with him, into his room anytime his four children and two wives were not around and defiled her.
Mr Augustine Dogbega, Deputy Superintendent of Police in charge of DOVVSU in Ho who briefed the GNA, said in December last year, the victim misbehaved towards the first wife of Gomashie, resulting in the victim being sacked from the house.
He said the victim then went to stay with another uncle who is a mason.
Mr Dogbega said in March, the victim’s uncle realised she was not in good health and asked if she was pregnant.
He said the victim first denied but a check at the hospital at the instance of the uncle showed that she was indeed pregnant.
Mr Dogbega said the victim mentioned Gomashie as the one responsible for the pregnancy.
He said a report was made to the police at Anyirawase leading to the arrest of Gomashie.
